Mission Plan for Veteran’s Day – Utilizing METT-TC

Mission:Provide veterans in our community with a structured plan to maximize their appreciation and recognition on Veterans Day by accessing free meals, treats, and other benefits offered at local businesses. This mission focuses on camaraderie, logistical planning, and efficiency to ensure veterans have a smooth experience and maximize their opportunities.

METT-TC Breakdown

  1. Mission:

    • Objective: Guide veterans in attending local events and receiving complimentary meals, snacks, and other benefits throughout Veterans Day.

    • Execution: Plan stops at nearby participating locations that offer deals, while also visiting The Veteran’s Lounge for camaraderie and a free swag bag.

  2. Enemy:

    • Potential Obstacles: High wait times, limited seating availability, location-specific hours, and other patrons.

    • Plan: Consider peak and off-peak hours for locations, avoid overcrowded times, and ensure veterans can make efficient use of time for each stop.

  3. Troops:

    • Participants: Local veterans and their families, board members, volunteers, and Veteran’s Lounge staff.

    • Logistics:

      • Assign a small team or volunteer guide for larger groups to streamline travel from one location to another.

      • Set up meeting points at major stops where volunteers can assist veterans in finding seating, explaining offers, and navigating any potential issues.

  4. Terrain:

    • Environment: Local area includes both densely populated and suburban locations where restaurants and businesses are spread out.

    • Transportation: Recommend carpooling options for veterans who may not have access to transportation and set up designated parking for Veterans Lounge attendees.

    • Meeting Spots:

      • The Veteran’s Lounge as the main HQ and starting point (offering swag bags from 0800-1700).

      • Carpool-friendly locations with ample parking options for larger groups, such as larger chain locations (Texas Roadhouse, Golden Corral, Applebee’s).

  5. Time Available:

    • Schedule:

      • Begin at Denny's early in the morning for breakfast (0500-1200), IHOP or Wendy’s for those arriving slightly later (0630-1030).

      • Move to midday options around 1100, such as Texas Roadhouse (voucher pickup between 1100-1400) and Little Caesars (free lunch combo, 1100-1400).

      • Afternoon treats or desserts (e.g., Red Lobster’s meal voucher, Cracker Barrel’s chocolate cake, or Krispy Kreme’s coffee and doughnut).

      • Evening meal options can be selected at locations like Golden Corral (free meal from 1700 until close).

    • Pacing: Allocate 30-45 minutes per location depending on group size, with time for transit. Ensure veterans have a chance to relax, socialize, and enjoy each experience without feeling rushed.

  6. Civilian Considerations:

    • Local Patrons: As these locations are open to the public, we aim to avoid peak hours to prevent crowding. Veterans should remain mindful of space and staff availability.

    • Volunteers: Volunteers will assist at busier locations to ensure smooth transitions and to answer any questions from veterans or the public.
